[ To put things back into context : this letter was written following a report on French television channel 'France 2' about Wikileaks and Anonymous. Following its airing on national television, the latter were officialy asked if they wished to exercise their right of reply (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Right_of_reply) based upon a broad movement of protest from Anonymous the viewing had generated. Anonymous has taken a great interest in the televisised report 'Complément d'Enquête', broadcasted on February 28th 2011 on channel 'France 2', and respects the work of journalists.

Our recent actions have obviously intrigued the establishment since the France Television group has wished to run a story on them, and we're comfortable about that. It's always a form of recognition, and each story or article, always brings more people in to join our movement.

We have explained to you very clearly several times, who we were, as well as what ideals we defended.

We have listened to you, and we are once again disappointed by your willingness to ignore reality. We do not recognize ourselves in this report ; therefore we ask you for a right of reply.

More to the point, we are disappointed that you did not emphasize more the values we stand for, such as freedom of expression, a stuggle which ought to be of equally importance in journalism ? Maybe not at the France Television group.

Your portrayal of Anonymous seemed to be biased and forged to solely match the image the French government wishes to give of Anonymous, to the French people, as stated in the comments of your Elysee Palace guest.

Did the government sponsor this France Television program ?
It's a question we ask ourselves very seriously after having analyzed thoroughly this story.

Is this the work of a journalist or that of a French presidency information cell ?
Mr. Guaino's speech seems to confirm our doubts, furthermore an interview in such highly symbolic place as the Marigny Hotel could not go unoticed. The French government is quick to condemn the media manipulation abroad, notably in Mexico, but refrains from doing alike with its own citizens...

In a recorded staged joke, you portray us as mere unconscious cybercriminals solely pleasure-minded and after easy money. Take into account that we are not playing, we do not steal, and that we are against any form of violence. Also Anonymous is not French, Anonymous does not belong to one country, or one specific continent alone. Anonymous is worldwide.

You have entirely dismissed our messages of peace, our actions in favor of freedom of speech, the right to protest in Tunisia, Egypt, Algeria, Libya, Bahrain, Yemen and Iran, and our solutions brought against Internet censorship applied in too many countries. You have not disclosed our previous actions against the Church of Scientology sect, or more recently the Baptist Church sect in the United States - like those carried out against the company HBGary to reveal the dark side of so-called security companies that work for our government and crony capitalism. Finally, you have not mentionned our digital protests against Wikileaks' opponents, and our mirroring operations so that information does not disappear from the internet.

We wish to tell the people and the journalists, to refuse ignorance for it only brings fears and unfounded fantasies. We are not a secret society, nor are we unreachable as you can join us on the IRC network anonops.net (1) and ask any questions. You can also read the press releases and letters on the Anonnews (2) website. Read them, as well as their comments, with a critical mind grasping their diversity. Take time to form your own opinion on what we are. We are complex, we are many, but we are you, the people.

Fortunately the governments underestimates us.
Fortunately all journalists are not at the beck of rulers.
Fortunately the new generation has in its hands the tools that allow it to be independent of state information.
Anonymous was born of the Internet,
Internet is uncontrollable,

We are in the information age,
We are a generation that you cannot easily manipulate and it bothers you,
